Events in 2020:
The year 2020 started with a bang for the Section, after the new carpets were laid and new paint job done, and all Section Members were looking forward to another great year of activities and events, including all the home and away interport matches with our affiliated and associated Clubs as well as our 11th PSC Invitational Inter Club Snooker Tournament slated to be held in September 2020, the 6th Inter Club 6-Reds Tournament (to be hosted by Penang Club) and the Penang Isle Quadrangular Friendly Snooker Competition between PSC, Penang Club, The OXA and The OFA.
However, the bang became a popped bubble due to the Covid-19 pandemic, resulting in the postponement (at least for the term) of all the events mentioned above. Nevertheless, the Section Committee endeavored to carry out whatever activities that were not disrupted or disallowed by the authorities during the pandemic.
The bang before the popped bubble was our Section’s 3 in 1 celebration held on 31 Jan 2020, comprised of the delayed celebration of PSC being champion in the 5th InterClub 6-Reds Tournament hosted by PSC on 14 Sept 2019; Section’s CNY 2020 Get-together; and celebrating Section members’ Nov/Dec/Jan birthdays. The Section also partook in the Club’s CNY 2020 celebration held on 15 Feb 2020 with much aplomb!
Completing the 2019/2020 term’s planned events, the Section’s Snooker team travelled to Royal Selangor Club on 29 Feb 2020 for the Patrick Keh Memorial Challenge Trophy Annual Interport Snooker Match, which we won 11-9. On the next day, 1 March 2020, the same team went further south to Royal Port Dickson Yacht Club for our Annual Interport Snooker Match and came out victorious with a score of 11-6.
As all interport games and tournaments involving affiliated/associated clubs were still not permitted during RMCO, the new committee, under the organising chairman, Soo Boon Eng, introduced the Singles Pot Black Handicap Step-Ladder Challenge, as part of the objectives to liven up the Section and further enhance the camaraderie among the Section members. This on-going event kicked off in mid-Sept 2020. There are a lot of interest among the Section members, with 36 registered for participation at the time of this report. Congratulations to the top 3 winners for the past monthly sessions:
• Mid-Sept/Oct 2020
1. Loh Bok Sheang
2. Derek Ooi
3. Danny Lee WT
• Nov 2020
1. Loh Bok Sheang
2. Danny Lee WT
3. Joseph Ang
• Dec 2020

This step-ladder challenge was unfortunately halted in mid-Jan 2021, when CMCO, followed by MCO 2.0 was imposed, till the time of this report.
Meanwhile, before the CMCO, the 5 annual in-house tournaments/competitions for the year 2020 were conducted and managed to complete on 9 January 2021 and the winners, heartiest congratulations to them, are:

Inter-Club Snooker 6-Reds Invitational Tournament 2019 (5th edition- hosted by PSC)
This is an annual Tri-nation Tournament with affiliated clubs from Thailand (Royal Bangkok Sports Club and RBSC Polo Club), Singapore (Singapore Cricket Club) and Malaysia (Penang Club, Royal Selangor Club and Penang Sports Club). These 6 clubs will take turn to organise this Tournament annually. This year, it was PSC’s turn to organise this Tournament on 14th September 2019.
In the preliminary rounds, we won both of our matches against RBSC Polo and Royal Selangor Club to emerge as the group champion. In the semi-final, we edged out Singapore Cricket Club to qualify for the Finals. We then maintained our form in the finals to overcome Champion Royal Bangkok Sports Club, emerging as the Champion in the tournament. The players who represented PSC were Derek Ooi, Charles Chow, Sebastian Jun, Simon Teh Beng Hong, Yeoh Chong Aik and Tan Hoe Hong. Syabas to the team for the great effort.

2nd OFA CENTENARY SNOOKER & BILLIARDS INVITATIONAL 2019
The Old Frees’ Association held this tournament from 4th to 5th May 2019. PSC sent 2 teams, PSC ‘Blacks’ and PSC ‘Reds’ representing our Club in this tournament.
Despite the absence of a few of our top players, PSC ‘Blacks’ did well in the first round beating the host 4-1 to proceed to the Semi-Final. However, we could not maintain our form on the next day and lost to the eventual Runner-Up, Kuala Muda CRC in the Semi-Final. Great effort by the team!
